Class Rings

Sophomore year is when you can start ordering class rings. All of my friends are getting them, but my mom says that they're not useful and that I would never wear mine if I got it. (I think she's mostly concerned about the fact that one of my friends just spent $360 on her class ring. But I guess her concern is only to be expected.)
Anyway, my question to you is: do you think I should get a class ring? Personally, I don't think I would ever wear it after high school. But since all of my friends are getting them... I really don't know.

I'm thinking about having my mom buy me a gold CTR ring instead of a class ring. They're expensive, but not as expensive as a class ring. And also, a CTR ring is something I can wear until my finger gets too fat for it.

So... what's your opinion?

Also- Sorry about the complete lack of pictures, my camera is broken. I won't be posting pictures until I get a new camera. (Which means probably November; I'm asking for a new one for my birthday.)

Ahhhh.....

School is upon us!
And I already have a HUGE workload! (mostly from AP Euro- thanks, Ms. Parmenter)
I'm in a play at my school: Raggedy Ann and Andy. It opens September 12th, so we have rehearsals every day for a few hours a day, including Saturdays.
My favorite classes so far are Honors Chemistry and Spanish 2. My Chemistry teacher is just about the COOLEST teacher EVER!
He ate a candle in class one day- hahaha and its "all in the name of science."
(It's kind of a long story)

Last night I went to a party at my friend Erin's house... turns out she has a pool... I only got thrown in like 600 times IN MY CLOTHES... but it was still really fun :]]

Well I gotta go- I'm going to a beach party later today so i need to get ready!
(And I have a huge load of Algebra 2 homework on top of that....)
But I'll deal with that tomorrow!
Bye! :]]

pack your bags!

I'm going to leadership camp!

They call it leadership camp, but really its 5 days "in camp" (horseback riding, high ropes, team-building stuff) and then 5 days canoeing "on trail" (carry your food and clothes, set up your own camp, portage your own canoe!) So it's more like "adventure camp" or something.

I went shopping yesterday to buy "appropriate rain gear," some non-cotton underarmour (apparently, COTTON IS THE ENEMY!), wool socks (again, cotton loses the battle), and a new fleece (Columbia for camp and a new North Face for school-thank you mommy!)

So now I'm SUPER excited for camp! I leave on Wednesday :]] My dad's not crazy about me leaving so soon after I got back, but whatever. I personally think it's gonna be AWESOME!

I get back on the 8th, and then start school on the 13th. (AHH, WHERE HAS THE SUMMER GONE!?!?!) And I have a stake dance on the 16th! Which helps ease the pain of going back to school :]] And i have a beach party the weekend after that...
But I'm getting ahead of myself. The point is, the summer's coming to a close. But I've got one last big adventure before school (blahhh).

OH YEAH- 4 months and 10 days til my 16th birthday! (not that I'm counting, or anything)

mini update.......

I GOT THE SCHOLARSHIP!!!!!!!!

Which means I have:
A ten day leadership camp to attend at the end of July.
Twice a week reading tutoring throughout the next 3 years.
ACT/SAT seminars.
Participation in Scholarship activities (plays and such in Chicago).
College visits funded by the program.
5,000 dollars a year to attend a highly selective college (And BYU Provo is highly selective- I already checked!)
And this all adds up to......
One heck of a college application!

Ok, now that I said that, I can give a teeny update on my life right now.
I'm currently in Utah visiting family :]]]]]
We've been doing so much fun stuff, and I've been hanging out with my ADORABLE nephew Jonah. I'll upload pictures on my next blog, but I'm using Karen's computer and all the photos are on Emily's.
I come home next Tuesday (unfortunately).

And P.S. to Andy....
This entry is numero DOS. I speak Spanish, not French! :]]]

numero uno

Hey everyone! I recently got this blogspot, so I'm still not used to blogging and everything, but I'll try to keep everyone updated!

I'm currently on summer break. I've been working hard on stuff for school in the fall (it's awful, they give us homework in the SUMMER!) but I've also been relaxing. I recently went to Youth Conference and then Girls Camp, both were AMAZING. I have pictures from Girls Camp that I will post below. I didn't get any pictures from Youth Conference, I was too busy with the boys... just kidding! (kind of)

I'm not really sure how the rest of my summer is going to go, what with my mom's surgery and everything. I'm applying for a scholarship program at school and I'm hoping to get into that, but it will mean staying in town on July 7th and 8th for an IQ test and an interview. I also have to complete an application and write two personal essays. :[[

After that, I'm hoping I'll be able to get out to Utah for a while! It's still my favorite place in the world :]] I want to take a student tour of BYU this summer since its still my #1 school I'll be applying for next year.

So here are the pictures from Girls Camp:
